A Calgary man faces charges after a cab driver was choked and punched several times in an incident last summer.
On August 10, 2014, a taxi driver picked up a man in the Woodpark Boulevard SW area and drove him to a destination in the area of Aboyne Way NE. When they arrived, the man paid his fare and the driver began to hand him change.
The man then punched the driver in the face and choked him. The cabbie managed to use his steering-wheel horn to attract attention. The man fled on foot.
After releasing a photo of the man believed to be behind the attack in April, police have located and charged Kenton Charles Louis Butters, 26, of Calgary. He was arrested on May 3 at a northeast residence without incidenct and charged with one count of assault causing bodily harm.
Butters will appear in court Thursday.
