Henry Solis, A former Los Angeles Police officer, wanted in connection to a California homicide, was nabbed in Mexico after an exhaustive two-month search, the Chihuahua attorney general said.
Henry Solis was wanted in connection with the March 13 shooting death of Salome Rodriguez, who was killed outside a nightclub in Pomona, California.
Rodriguez’s mother told the L.A. Times she’d been praying regularly at the spot where her son had been killed that his alleged killer face justice. “If it’s true he got caught, hallelujah,” Lidia Rodriguez told the paper. “We think this is God’s work.”
The L.A. Police Department said it received multiple 911 calls reporting gun shots in the area of Third Street and Main Street around 3:30 a.m. on the night Solis disappeared.
When they arrived, officers found Rodriquez, Jr., 23, suffering from bullet wounds to the lower torso. He later died at USC Medical Center.
“The preliminary investigation indicates the victim and suspect were engaged in a physical alternation prior to the shooting,” a police statement said. “It is unknown if the suspect and the victim knew each other.”
Henry Solis was a rookie officer assigned to the Devonshire area and was off-duty at the time of the shooting, according to the LAPD.
The morning after the incident, investigators said surveillance cameras caught Solis’ father, Victor Solis, assisting his son slip into Ciudad Juarez, Mexico.
Victor Solis was indicted in April in Texas for making a false statement to the FBI.
