Bindi Irwin: “I want to step away from khaki”

Bindi Irwin says that although she’ll always be comfortable in Australia Zoo’s khaki uniform, she’s content experimenting with other styles.

“I’ll always feel most comfortable in khaki surrounded by animals, but it is really fun to try different styles,” she told US Weekly.

“I’m kind of stepping away from khaki!”

Irwin, who spends her days running Queensland’s Australia Zoo with her mum, while also starring in a wildlife show called Bindi’s Bootcamp, doesn’t plan on becoming a fashion victim but is keen on being a style influencer.

“I almost wish I could tell young girls, ‘Look, in 10 years when you look back at yourself, you’ll cringe, honey, honestly,'” she told Woman’s Day last year. Big words from a 16 year old.

“A lot of times I want to grab these girls and say, ‘Look … in 10 years, you’ll regret this. Just dress like who you are. Don’t try so hard. A pair of jeans and a T-shirt is just as gorgeous and even makes you look classier’ … The way I choose to dress, I want to influence other people around me, I suppose.”
