Police have recovered the body of Shannon Burgess (née Madill), who had been missing for seven months, and have charged her former husband with her murder.
Joshua Burgess, 29, faces one count of second-degree murder, police announced Sunday.
Staff Sgt. Colin Chisholm says the investigation went from that of a missing person to a homicide some time last week.
The body of the 25 year old was found Friday on the Madill Burgess property.
He couldn’t say what lead them to the discovery but notes the home had been searched before.
“Obviously a body located within a residence that’s now six months, seven months old – there would have to have been some form of concealment.”
No weapon was found however the investigation is ongoing.
Burgess is set to appear in court tomorrow. An autopsy on Shannon is also slated for tomorrow.
