A kayaker captured incredible footage of an up-close encounter with several pods of orcas off the coast of San Juan Island in Washington on Aug. 26.
Michelle Feis and her friends were on the water when they spotted a pod of killer whales nearby.
The footage shows the end of the kayak and a large expanse of water in front. Shortly after the film begins, spurts of water can be seen firing into the air in the distance.
Slowly the whales move closer and closer prompting Michelle to exclaim: “We are in whale soup!”
Just moments later. they spot one of the whale’s fins gliding through the water towards them before the giant animal passes right under the kayak.
The friendly visitor is soon followed by another three whales popping in and out of the water before swimming by.

The film then shows the whales diving and cresting through the water, off into the distance.
But these lucky kayakers aren’t the only ones to have been up close and personal with these beautiful creatures recently.
Just last week we reported on a couple of a private fishing boat in Queensland, Australia who were lucky enough to spot a humpback whale swimming under their tiny boat.

Whale soup? Wouldn’t that make her the cracker floating in that soup?
