A shooting incident has taken place at Union Station in Washington, D.C.
A security guard shot and wounded a man at the District’s Union Station Friday, and the incident has no connection to the anniversary of the Sept. 11 attacks, according to police.
The suspect is an adult male, and is “conscious and breathing,” DC Police spokesman Lt. Sean Conboy told TRNS.
The 12:45 p.m. incident forced the busy station to be briefly evacuated before the all-clear was raised.
The suspect, who has not yet been publicly identified, allegedly stabbed his girlfriend in the McDonald’s area (near the arrival and departure gates) and was subsequently shot by the security guard, according to a Tweet from the DC Police. Both were treated at the scene and the extent of their injuries is not known.
Police also cautioned lawmakers and congressional staffers to steer clear from the area, according to CNN.
