Entitled “Romance”, Chevy’s commercial for the upcoming Super Bowl XLVIII isn’t as much about the 2015 Chevy Silverado HD as it is about what it can do. In the ad, a 2015 Silverado HD driver picks up a bull in a trailer and drives him to a farm. Upon exiting the trailer, the bull sees a profusion of lady cows, as “You Sexy Thing” (very appropriately) plays by Hot Chocolate
“We like how ‘Romance’ uses humor to show the power and capability of the truck and the interesting demands our customers place on their heavy-duty trucks,” said Tim Mahoney, Chevrolet’s global chief marketing officer.
The commercial was filmed in Austin, Texas, and is set to the 1975 hit, “You Sexy Thing,” by the British group Hot Chocolate. It was developed by the Silverado’s agency of record, Leo Burnett Detroit. The spot shows off the truck’s exterior design and towing capabilities, as well as the available Duramax diesel engine and Allison® transmission.
In addition to the “Romance” ad, audiences in Canada will be shown two additional commercials during Sunday’s Super Bowl. True North Strong “Eco” features the Silverado’s best fuel efficiency rating of any V-8 pickup, while True North Strong “Warranty” focuses on the best pickup coverage in Canada.
