One man is dead after a brazen, targeted shooting at a strip mall on Vancouver’s west side.
According to a release, the incident occurred just after 2 p.m. Sunday when gun shots were fired at King Edward Mall, a strip mall on the southeast corner of the intersection of Oak Street and King Edward Avenue.
When officers arrived to the scene, they found a deceased man in the passenger seat of a white Toyota Camry parked on the eastern end of the mall near the TD Bank branch.
As this was during a sunny weekend afternoon, there were many shoppers at the mall at the time of the incident. A number of witnesses have been transported by bus to be interviewed at the Vancouver Police Department’s headquarters on Cambie Street.
“Many of those witnesses were clearly shaken by the incident,” reads the police statement. “Police have not confirmed the identity of the victim and no arrests have been made. While it is still early in the investigation, the attack appears targeted.”
