Zelda Williams makes moving plea after Cathriona White passed away on Monday from a suspected overdose
The 26-year-old said she was “heartbroken” to hear that Cathriona had taken her own life in a moving Twitter message.
“Heartbroken to continue to watch sweet, kind souls be consumed by darkness,” she tweeted. “May it never hurt less, so we never grow numb to the loss.”
She also posted another message linking to Pieta House, a suicide prevention centre in Ireland, writing: “In honour of @littleirishcat, please check out pieta.ie. They do great work in her wonderful home country. RIP Cat.”
Zelda has been outspoken about depression and mental health issues after losing her father Robin Williams to suicide in August 2014. She wrote a heartfelt open letter about handling grief at the beginning of September, reflecting on how she was handling her grief a year after losing her beloved father.

It emerged on Tuesday that Cathriona, the ex-girlfriend of Jim Carrey, had taken her own life just days after their relationship ended for the second time. The Irish make-up artist, who celebrated her birthday earlier this month, had written a worrying message on Twitter three days before her death.
“Signing off Twitter, I hope I have been a light to my nearest and dearest. Love to yo all,” she posted.
After the news emerged, Jim broke his silence to say he was “shocked and saddened” by Cathriona’s death in an emotional statement.
“I am shocked and saddened by the passing of my sweet Cathriona,” Jim said. “She was a truly kind and delicate Irish flower, too sensitive for this soil, to whom loving and being loved was all that sparkled.
“My heart goes out to her family and friends and to everyone who loved and cared about her. We have all been hit by a lightning bolt.”
