McDonald’s Restaurants of Canada Ltd. is going upscale, one customized burger at a time.
President and CEO John Betts announced on Wednesday an industry game changer for the fast food company which includes enhanced guest experiences and customized menu options.
“We are kicking off a bold plan to transform what guests experience when they visit McDonald’s restaurants across Canada,” said Betts. “We want our guests to walk in and be wowed by an experience that’s modern and personalized, but still the McDonald’s they know and love.”
Part of the plan involves the introduction of Self-Order Kiosks, giving customers the chance to customize their burgers by using the Create Your Taste menu and order at their own pace.
The Create Your Taste menu will allow guests to choose from nearly 30 options including five types of cheese, 12 toppings, two bun options, a lettuce wrap, and nine sauces.
Wait staff will also be introduced.
With the changes, McDonald’s says they will create up to 15,000 jobs as nearly 1,000 restaurants in Canada will switch to the new ordering format by the end of 2017.
