Meri Brown: Sister Wives Star ‘Catfished’ Into Having An Affair With A Woman Pretending To Be A Man!

Meri Brown recently revealed that she was catfished by a man who pretended to be a woman during a difficult time in her life.

Meri Brown told PEOPLE in an exclusive statement that the man with whom she was forming a on online relationship was actually a woman. “During an emotional and vulnerable time earlier this year, I began speaking with someone online who turned out to be not who they said they were,” said Meri.

“I never met this person and I regret being drawn into this situation, but I hope because of it I can help others who find themselves in similar circumstances.”

“Catfishing” is term describing the way in which individuals use different identities in order to pursue an online relationship. This term was coined by Nev Schulman in his 2010 documentary “Catfish” and later popularized by MTV’s reality-show spinoff.

The reality star also opened up about how her family has been coping with the series of unfortunate events this year has given them.

“It’s just weird,” Brown told Kody in the show’s season premiere. “I’ve just been trying so hard to be there and do this whole team thing and not be caught up in the emotions of it, and I shocked myself by having so much emotion.”

Even though Meri’s online affair may have pushed her down, the Brown family is still there to pick her right back up. “Throughout this ordeal, my family has supported and stood by me… I am grateful to them for their love and strength through this difficult time.”
