Shonda Rhimes may be responsible for some of today’s biggest TV shows, but now she’s also responsible for her own health.
The Scandal and Grey’s Anatomy creator stopped by Ellen on Monday to chat with the talk show host about the moment that sparked her decision to lose 127 pounds!
In her new book, “The Year of Yes,” Rhimes talks about how it all started when she started “saying yes” to things that scared her.
“The more fears I conquered, the most I felt like, ‘Oh wait, I can do this too,” says Rhimes. “I decided I’m going to try doing that, so I lost weight.”
She adds that it wasn’t about looking good for someone’s approval, it was about being healthy.
“I have a 3-year-old and a 2-year-old and a 13-year-old and I wanted to be around to them, be healthy. I’m super feminist, everybody should be whatever shape they want to be … but I was like, ‘I’m gonna fall over ’cause I don’t feel good.’ It was really about that,” says Rhimes.
Finally, Rhimes has a very special gift for DeGeneres — one that no one has. It’s a “specially-made” Olivia Pope white hat, so welcome DeGeneres as the latest gladiator.
