Joanna Leigh, a boston woman pleaded guilty Friday to defrauding several funds meant to help Boston Marathon Bombing victims.
Joanna Leigh, 41, spent two years claiming she suffered a traumatic brain injury running toward the second bomb blast at the marathon finish line in 2013.
Joanna Leigh pleaded guilty to six counts that included defrauding the One Fund by filing false claims for injuries she never suffered at the bombing.
In fact, prosecutors said she left the area before the explosions and was a block and a half a way on Fairfield Street.
Prosecutors wanted Leigh to serve up to three years in prison for receiving nearly $40,000 in assistance.
Ultimately, the judge sentenced her to a year behind bars suspended for three years which means she won’t be sent to prison.

Her attorney told us she is a victim and did help an injured man on Fairfield Street, but added her false claims were a stupid decision.
