Surprise! Metal Gear Solid Fan Remake Shadow Moses Canceled

The creators of the Metal Gear Solid Unreal Engine 4 remake titled Shadow Moses announce that their project has been cancelled for ‘reasons beyond our control’.

The game had been in development in Unreal Engine 4 for some time, and looked like this back in January. The development had been teasing a “huge announcement” for March 14, but this weekend, the development team announced that the project had been cancelled “for reasons beyond our control.” That said, they still have some other news on the way.

While nothing has officially been said, the most likely reason for the cancellation is a cease and desist notice from Konami, given that the Shadow Moses team was working with Konami’s IP without authorization. That said, the team had been trying to get Konami’s blessing, and the company has been aware of the project since December, not long after it was first announced.

It’s not unheard of for projects like these to get the support of the property owner. Last year, a fan remake of Resident Evil 2 was shut down, but the team behind it were invited to collaborate on an official remake that’s now in development. However unlikely, it’s possible that something similar is happening with Shadow Moses.
