Venezuelan race car driver and businessman Emilio Di Guida has passed away due to an apparent heart attack while jogging near his home in Doral, FL.
After getting his start in national racing in Venezuela, Di Guida competed in both the American Le Mans Series and Rolex Sports Car Series over the past three years. In 2012 he scored two GTC class victories driving a Porsche 911 GT3 Cup car for TRG.
Last season, di Guida teamed with Sebastien Bourdais in the 8Star Motorsports Corvette Daytona Prototype during the latter half of the Grand-Am season. He took part in pre-season testing at Daytona with 8Star and had hoped to return with the team in TUDOR United SportsCar Championship events later this year.
