Another unsettling incident on the University of British Columbia campus has left some students feeling on edge this weekend.
The man attempted to break into a residence lounge around 2:00am where a woman was studying.
UBC’s managing director of student housing and hospitality services Andrew Parr says the student called police after seeing a man through the window of the residency lounge.
“She looked up and noticed a male rubbing himself against the window and using his hands in inappropriate ways.”
The suspect then attempted to break in, but was unsuccessful.
UBC Campus Security and University RCMP were unable to track down and arrest the suspect.
Parr says he doesn’t know if this is connected to the recent incidents where a man was seen lurking near UBC residences but says RCMP continues to investigate.
“One of the big things is for us to continue to remind them to be vigilant, to not let people follow them into the residency complexes when they enter those complexes and to make sure they lock their doors, and do whatever they can do to make themselves safe.”
