Sara Rosen: Toronto firefighter killed after falling 70-80 feet

The cyclist killed in a fall at Kelso Conservation Area this morning has been confirmed as Sarah Rosen, 35, a 15-year veteran of Toronto Fire Services.

Her union released a statement about her death late this afternoon offering their condolences to her friends and family and telling people what a kind and charitable person she was.

Police have been on scene all day investigating Rosen’s tragic death. They say two friends were mountain biking along the trail this morning, when one of them fell off the escarpment just before 10:30am. Rosen was pronounced dead at the scene shortly after 11 but her body remained at the bottom of the cliff all afternoon. As of 9 pm, the body was recovered and removed from Kelso Conservation Area. The investigation continues.

The conservation area is located just south of Highway 401 in Milton just on the other side of the Glen Eden ski resort.
