A Nigerian Army spokesman confirmed to Canada Journal that a second girl from the group of 276 schoolgirls kidnapped more than two years ago was rescued Thursday.
The girl, identified as Serah Luka, was among 97 women and children “rescued” by troops in north-eastern Borno state on Thursday, Colonel Sani Kukasheka Usman said.
It comes two days after the rescue of the first Chibok girl, Amina Ali Nkeki who was found nursing her four-month-old baby.
The 19-year-old was flown to meet President Muhammadu Buhari at his presidential villa on Thursday.
A presidential statement said Mr Buhari’s feelings were “tinged with deep sadness at the horrors the young girl has had to go through at such an early stage in her life”.
The Nigerian army is now reportedly drawing up plans to rescue the remaining girls.
