A ‘sea monster’ has been spotted on Google Earth near Antarctica, and it has driven people into a frenzy as they tried to figure out what it is.
A viral video on YouTube takes viewers there: Zoom in to Deception Island near Antarctica. Just off the coast, you’ll find what’s described as a “massive disturbance” in the ocean.
Once you’ve spotted it, the video demonstrates its sheer size. The unknown object is roughly 100 feet long, but that’s only the portion seen above the water’s surface.
“No idea what this is,” wrote the owner of the video, YouTube user wowforreeel. “When I saw it, it IMMEDIATELY made me think of a Plesiosaur fin.”
The Plesiosaur is a prehistoric, extinct animal.
Most theories are focusing on a mythical creature called a Kraken that is said to have terrorized the seas, grabbing entire ships and pulling them underwater without a trace.
Many other people think it’s nothing more than a huge rock.
The video was shared on YouTube on April 29 and recently took off, gaining more than 1.6 million views in only the last few days.
If you want to judge for yourself, the wandering ocean dweller sits at: 63° 2’56.73″S 60°57’32.38″W.
