Justin Bieber has been officially warned by Toronto authorities against cuddling lion cubs on camera during future visits to the city.
The pride of Stratford, Ontario came under fire in April when the 22-year-old posted photos of himself petting a leashed tiger at his father Jeremy’s engagement party. A month later the ferocious feline fancier was seen cradling a lion cub backstage at his Toronto gig.
Animal Services said in an e-mail to the Sun: “Toronto Animal Services received two complaints about Mr. Justin Bieber having exhibited a white lion cub and juvenile lion while in the City of Toronto earlier this year. This activity is prohibited in the City of Toronto. Our staff issued a notice of violation to Mr. Bieber as a result of these incidents.”
Activist group PETA also slammed the singer and the Bowmanville Zoo, which provided the gravely endangered tiger.
“No reputable animal-care facility lends out exotic animals for private parties and backstage Instagram photos,” PETA said. “PETA hopes the authorities’ warning to Justin Bieber will remind people everywhere that lions and tigers are sensitive living animals, not selfie props.”
Meanwhile, Bieber enjoyed being massaged by two men at once at a posh New York City spa, according to The New York Post.
The Post said Bieber was at the spa “next to one of the pools getting massaged by two very large, strong men,” and was “moaning for all to hear.”
