A Siberian tiger mauled a woman to death, while another injured her companion at a wild life park at the Beijing Badaling Wildlife World on 23 July.
The two women were part of a group being driven through Badaling Safari World, in Beijing, where the tigers roam freely and get close to vehicles.
According to the South China Morning Post, a dispute with the driver led to one of the women opening the car door to get out. A tiger reportedly pounced on her and pulled her away.
When the second woman got out to rescue her, another tiger attacked and killed her.
Zoo workers were able to rescue the first woman, who is now in hospital in a stable condition.
The older woman died on the spot.
The Legal Evening News reported that the car was carrying a middle-aged woman, a young woman, a man and a child.
