The Water Security Agency (WSA) and the Saskatchewan government are warning about existing blue-green algae blooms across the province, and the potential for more to develop.
Residents are advised to avoid consuming the water or contacting the algae bloom.
The bloom gives the water a shimmering, foamy appearance with blue-green, bright blue, grey or tan colour.
Contact or unintended consumption of the water can cause red skin, sore throat, cramps, nausea, vomiting and diarrhea.
People with pets and livestock are advised to keep their animals away from the water.
Patrick Boyle with the Water Security Agency says Buffalo Pound Lake has a blue green algae bloom and a public beach advisory has been issued by the Health region.
