Child fashion model Causes Controversy For Jalouse Magazine Cover

Is she the next Kate Moss? Jalouse Magazine seems to think so. If you haven’t heard of Thylane Blondeau, she is a 13-year-old French model sensation who made waves at the age of 10 when she was featured in Vogue Paris three years old. Now, Jalouse, is causing more controversy by featuring the 13-year-old and featuring her on a women’s magazine. They have also boldly proclaimed her as the next “Kate Moss.”

In the photos, Thylane was seen posing, in what former editor Carine Roitfeld called “mom clothes,” on a bed of leopard print sheets while dripping in diamonds and sporting a full face of makeup; naturally, the photos, the magazine, and the fashion industry, were accused of sexualizing children.

Now, the brunette teen is (kind of) all grown up and starring on her second magazine cover — the first being Vogue Enfants.

For her first “grown-up” cover, the model was photographed by Stian Foss. She’s seen with her hair pulled back into a high pony, ombrée ends falling down past her shoulder, while posing with her hand under her chin. We’d say the look, which is a stark comparison to her Vogue Paris shoot, is much more age appropriate.

And of course, she looks gorgeous, though much older than she actually is.

The French glossy accompanied her cover photo with the hashtag #bornin2001 (NUTS!) and dubbed her “the new Kate Moss,” which makes sense, as Miss Moss has caused her fair share of controversy over the years.

Opinions of this cover are pouring in online, with some questioning whether or not a 13-year-old should be on the cover of a women’s fashion mag, but what do you think? Is she too young? Is there really anything wrong with her being a child model?
