The Canadian town of Kensington has an an unusual plan to deter its residents from drinking and driving this holiday season.
Not only will the police officers charge you, they’ll also blast music by rock band Nickelback while they haul you to jail.
“When we catch you, and we will catch you, on top of a hefty fine, a criminal charge and a years driving suspension we will also provide you with a bonus gift of playing the office’s copy of Nickelback in the cruiser on the way to jail,” stated a Facebook post on the matter.
The officer went on to reveal that the department doesn’t actually hate the band, but decided to use the polarizing rock act’s music as a “different approach to get an age-old message communicated.” He added, “As long as it starts the ‘Don’t drink and drive’ dialogue, we’re happy with that.”
“Let’s not ruin a perfectly good unopened copy of Nickelback. You don’t drink and drive and we won’t make you listen to it,” states the social media post.
So the next time you’re “feelin’ way too damn good” after yelling “bottom’s up,” just know that the Kensington Police Service may eventually make you swear, “Never Again.”
