A threat was made Friday to kidnap Justina Pelletier, 15, who is at the center of a custody controversy that has drawn nationwide attention, Massachusetts State Police said.
One of those threats spoke of a “forceful interruption” of the 15-year-old’s transport to visit with her parents today. Extra security measures were taken and police say everything went smoothly.
Pelletier has been in the custody of DCF since last February. Doctors at Tufts had previously diagnosed her with Mitochondrial Disease, but when her parents brought her to Boston Children’s last year doctors there claimed her symptoms were psychological and accused her parents of medical child abuse.
When Pelletier’s parent’s asked for a second opinion, DCF took custody of the teen.
Earlier this week, a judge granted permanent custody of Pelletier to the state.
