Elton John is among the stars mourning George Michael, who died at the age of 53.
Just minutes after word of Michael’s death got out, the iconic singer and songwriter took to social media to weigh in on the heavy, tragic news.
Michael died at the age of 53 on Christmas Day.
In his tribute the singer who collaborated with George Michael on the hit Don’t Let the Sun go Down on Me, said “I am in deep shock. I have lost a beloved friend—the kindest, most generous soul and a brilliant artist. My heart goes out to his family and all of his fans. RIP.”
Born Georgios Kyriacos Panayiotou 25 June 1963, in London to Greek Cypriot immigrant parents in a flat above a north London launderette, Michael found his fame in the 1980s as part of popular duo, Wham!.
Michael’s publicist says the family has asked for privacy and that no further statements would be made.
