Tyra Banks famously graduated from Harvard Business School earlier this year. But today she came under fire from critics who have taken issue with the fact that the qualification is not a ‘proper’ degree.
The supermodel, 38, has never suggested that she has anything other than a ‘diploma’ from Harvard.
Although Banks didn’t earn a master’s or doctoral degree from Harvard, she will still receive alumnus status, according to the university’s site. The Owner/President Manager Program is designed for “CEOs, COOs, presidents, and managing directors of companies with annual sales of at least $5 million.”
When asked by VH1 last year what her most difficult class was, Banks easily replied “finance”: “For the first 30 minutes of the class, I’m raising my hand, I’m all into it, ‘cause it’s kind of like theory and just like, the social part of the case. The last hour it’s all like Einstein and algebraic equations and craziness. And I’m just like, what the [heck] is going on? Please don’t call on me because it won’t be pretty. “
Perhaps inspired by her education experience, the 19th season of “America’s Next Top Model” — which Banks created and currently executive produces and hosts — will be a “college edition,” according to the Hollywood Reporter. Season 18 of the show premieres this month
