Fire crews are on scene of a building fire burning across the street from Surrey Central SkyTrain station this morning.
Smoke is pouring from The Hockey Shop, located in the former A&B Sound store, at 10280 City Parkway.
“Surrey Central SkyTrain Station on Expo Line is currently closed due to a fire at a business across the street. Heavy smoke is blowing into the station,” read a statement issued Saturday morning by TransLink spokeswoman Jill Drews.
A later update shared around 11:30 a.m. said buses that usually pick up and drop off at Surrey Central had been redirected from the loop and over to University Drive.
Trains on the Expo Line continued to run throughout the morning, however, they were not stopping at Surrey Central to allow for disembarkment. TransLink said just before noon that it was waiting for the “all clear” from the fire department before allow normal service to resume.
“Please be advised, our officers and Surrey RCMP are attending to assist with crowd control near the Surrey Central Skytrain Station, due to a structure fire in the are,” according to a notice sent out by Transit Police.
The Millennium and Canada Lines are unaffected, and are running normally.
