Beyonce knowles : Singer breaks records on tour Down Under

While claims are being made that Taylor Swift’s upcoming stadium tour will be the biggest event of the year, Beyonce Knowles has made a $40 million statement of her own.

Knowles’ The Mrs Carter Show played to more than 200,000 people across Australia in 10 shows, and four more in Auckland. The tour, which wrapped up in Perth at the weekend, brought in more than $40 million.

Michael Coppel, president of Live Nation Australasia, says, “I’ve been fortunate enough to have worked with Beyonce since the first Destiny’s Child tour in 2000, but this tour has been an absolute standout in terms of the showcasing her unparalleled talent, energy and joy for performing in one of the most spectacular productions ever to visit this country.” Australia is proving a profitable

territory for touring superstars – Pink also netted $37 million from her shows there earlier this year (13), while Bruce Springsteen made $23 million (£15.3 million) from his Wrecking Ball jaunt.
