An investigation by the Alberta Serious Incident Response Team, or ASIRT, has determined that the St Paul shooting suspect, John Quadros took his own life and there will be no charges will be laid against police officers involved in the incident.
It was around 6 p.m. on May 9th when officers say they heard gun shots fired outside the local detachment and then witnessed a black pickup truck flee the parking lot.
ASIRT says the suspect vehicle was then followed to the intersection of 48th Street and 50th Avenue, where it rammed a parked police vehicle and was immobilized.
The truck’s driver then fired several rounds towards a nearby police vehicle that had just arrived at the scene, with another arriving officer then firing eight rounds of his own back toward the truck.
Then, with no further movement from the suspect, officers approached the truck and discovered he was dead.
ASIRT says it has been determined that Quadros took his own life during the shootout, adding no charges will be laid as a result of the actions of the police officers involved in this incident.
There’s still no word on a possible motive in the case as the Mounties continue to investigate.
