Friends have identified Amaria Diljohn as the 14-year-old girl who was struck by a TTC bus and killed while trying to cross an intersection in Scarborough.
Toronto Police say a 27-year-old TTC bus driver is being questioned in connection to the incident.
It happened at Finch Avenue and Neilson Road at around 5:40 p.m., Toronto police Const. Clint Stibbe said.
Diljohn was said to be alone at the time and was pronounced dead at the scene. A Facebook page has been made in her honour.
Police said she lived in the area.
The vehicle failed to remain at the scene after the girl was struck. Sources say the driver did not know he hit someone.
Investigators are in the process of reviewing video evidence from the area. The TTC says they have turned over the video from the bus to aid in the investigation.
Officials are asking for anyone who was on the 133 Neilson bus on Friday night between 5:15 p.m. and 6:00 p.m. to contact police.
