Could some of the dogs seized from a property near Milk River eventually be returned to their owner?
The seizure of over 200 mistreated dogs from a southern Alberta property has left many shocked at the abuse, but the shock is still to come.
The accused, 55-year-old April Dawn Irving, has filed a claim in the Lethbridge Court of Queen’s Bench to get the animals back.
She claims the dogs were taken from her property illegally and is seeking unspecified damages.
The Alberta SPCA meanwhile is investigating after the dogs were seized and found to be riddled with parasites and wounds.
Two years ago Irving was charged with operating a puppy mill in Foam Lake, Saskatchewan and was also accused with the mistreatment of animals in Fort McMurray. The Fort Mac charges were however withdrawn
