Police arrested two men Thursday after dozens of officers searched homes in Surrey and Langley in relation to the rash of gang violence that has hit the area in recent weeks.
Delta police, along with Langley and Surrey RCMP and the Combined Forces Special Enforcement Unit of B.C., executed four search warrants on homes in Surrey and Langley. More than 50 officers were involved in the searches Thursday afternoon. The search resulted in the seizure of a large amount of drugs and cash.
“The investigation into the gang/drug-related violence in Surrey and Delta remains of highest priority, and today’s seizure and arrests reinforce the determination and commitment of all the agencies involved to solve these crimes,” said Delta police in a news release.
More than 30 shootings in Surrey and Delta have been linked to the same ongoing turf war between rival drug gangs. To date, at least five men have been arrested and charged with various firearms- and drug-related charges.
