Crown is asking for a five year sentence for a convicted pedophile known as ‘swirl face’.
Former Maple Ridge teacher Christopher Neil pleaded guilty in December to five charges relating to sex crimes he committed in Canada and overseas.
This sentencing relates to two counts of sexual interference in Cambodia in 2003, as well as three child pornography counts related to crimes committed in Maple Ridge and Vancouver in 2007 and 2013 respectively.
Beyond asking for a five-year sentence, there is also a request for Christopher Paul Neil to receive three years of probation and a life-time ban from schools, parks, playgrounds and the Internet.
Back in December, Neil pleaded guilty to five charges including two counts of sexual interference under Canada’s child-sex tourism laws.
Neil is a former English teacher and he became widely known after Interpol released an image of his face digitally blocked by a swirl. The agency did that as part of an investigation into child abuse in Southeast Asia.
