A 2 year old girl who wandered from a farm in Norwich, near Woodstock has been found. Brooklyn Honderich went missing around 7 last night, but was found safe and sound around 10 this morning on the edge of a corn field.
OPP Const. Plummer said paramedics checked the girl over and “she seems to be in very good health.”
She has been sent to hospital as a precaution.
The girl went missing from the farm — just southeast of the village of Norwich, south of Woodstock — where her family keeps livestock.
She left the farm near Caley and Baseline with a dog around 7 p.m. While the dog eventually returned home, the toddler did not at that time.
Canine units combed the corn fields surrounding the farm overnight. A helicopter was also deployed to help with the search.
A second wave of police and volunteers began searching the cornfields again when the sun came up. They planned to expand the search to the surrounding areas, said Const. Plummer.
“Corn is absolutely horrible to search through,” said Plummer.
He added the daylight and lifting fog would aid in the search.
Residents were being asked to check their properties, including sheds and other buildings, for any traces of the missing girl.
Police did not consider issuing an Amber Alert, said Plummer, as they believed Brooklyn had not moved far.
