Police in Canada foil Valentine’s Day mall shooting plot, According to the authorities, at least two of the detainees, including a teenager, had planned “to go to a public venue… with a goal of opening fire to kill citizens, and then themselves.”
A fourth suspect was also found dead in a suburb of Halifax, according to the police sources.

They said the motive behind the planned massacre “did not appear to be terrorism,” but did not elaborate further on the case.
Commanding officer of the Nova Scotia Royal Canadian Mounted Police Brian Brennan said the plot had involved a 19-year-old male from the Halifax suburb of Timberlea and a 23-year-old American woman from the Midwest state of Illinois.
“I would classify it as a group of individuals that had some beliefs and were willing to carry out violent acts against citizens but there’s nothing in the investigation to classify it as a terrorist attack,” Brennan said, adding, “I can tell you that it’s not culturally-based.”
According to the official, the two prime suspects had access to firearms, but the Timberlea man was found dead in a house.
Meanwhile a 20-year-old Canadian male was also detained with the woman at Halifax Stanfield International Airport, while the fourth suspect, a 17-year-old Canadian boy, was taken into custody at a residential home.
The police, however, said that the roles of the latter two suspects are still unknown to the investigators of the case.
