Craig Premack : Marathon cyclist shot during 600 km BC race

RCMP are seaching for a person who shot a 59-year-old Burnaby man who was participating in a randonneur road cycling event near Spencers Bridge early Sunday morning.

RCMP Constable Kris Clark says the man was shot in the upper body as the riders were south of Spences Bridge on the Trans Canada. “It’s on the highway, it’s going through a fairly rural stretch. Spences Bridge is a populated area, but, south of there, it’s basically an canyon highway at that point.”

Clark says it’s very strange since the shooting doesn’t appear to be targetted. “It’s obviously very concerning because it appears to be completely random. I would love to be able to provide information that would relieve peoples fears in this case, but I don’t have any information either way.”

Police have no suspects but are looking for a pickup truck seen speeding away from the scene.
