An Edmonton man, convicted of manslaughter in the death of Baby M, will do hard prison time.
A judge has sentenced the man to 15 years in prison for neglecting and starving his young twin daughters to the point where one of them died in hospital.
In 2012, paramedics found badly malnourished twin girls in a home in Edmonton – that had a well-stocked kitchen. The two year olds were the size of six month old babies. The family’s four year old boy was healthy. One of the twins died in hospital.
The father pleaded guilty to manslaughter, abuse, and neglect charges. The mother also faces a charge of second degree murder.
To protect the surviving twin and the little boy, their names have not been released.
