A 47-year-old man is dead after the truck he was driving hit an overhead sign on the Anthony Henday Saturday afternoon.
Officials said a Dodge Ram 1500 pickup truck was heading south on Anthony Henday Drive when the vehicle veered off the road and onto the centre grassy boulevard.
Investigators said the vehicle travelled on the boulevard for a short time then hit an overhead sign.
The pickup came to rest upright along the shoulder of Anthony Henday Drive northbound, about 300 metres north of Stony Plain Road.
The 47-year-old driver and only occupant in the truck was declared deceased at the scene.
Police said he had not been wearing a seatbelt.
Investigators said speed played a role in the collision.
