A 58-year-old Grande Prairie man was arrested shortly before midnight Tuesday in the wake of reports of a lone gunman firing several shots near the Haliburton building west of Clairmont.
Police were called to a Halliburton Oilfield Services facility in Clairmont at 7:50pm Tuesday where RCMP Inspector Gibson Glavin says there was a lone gunman.
Glavin says police moved into the area quickly and called in a tactical unit from Edmonton to assist.
“The RCMP’s Emergency Response Team, which would normally respond to any situations where we would have significant concern about an armed person, has been sent to Grande Prairie,” says Glavin.
Glavin says the man turned himself in without incident before 1:00am.
“We had done a search of the Halliburton building where the incident happened around and the immediate area around that building and confirmed there were no injuries,” says Glavin.
