A 46-year-old female pedestrian has been pronounced dead on scene after she was struck by a vehicle in Mississauga during the morning rush hour.
The collision happened around 7 a.m. near Seneca Avenue and Lakeshore Road.
The woman was initially pinned underneath the vehicle following the crash. Peel Region Paramedics were able to free her from the car, with the help of passersby, but she was pronounced dead at the scene.
Lakeshore Road will be closed in the area as Peel Regional Police investigate. Peel Const. George Tudos said the driver of the Civic remained on scene and is being cooperative. Police initially believed the woman was struck by a truck but later learned the truck driver was a witness who stopped to offer help.
