Greyhound bus hits the ditch near Jasper : RCMP

A Greyhound bus hauling a trailer went off the road near the Jasper townsite early Monday.

Twenty-one people, including the driver, were taken to the Seton General Hospital with minor injuries. An RCMP-supplied photo showed extensive damage to the bus.

The incident happened minutes after the bus left the station on its way from Prince George to Edmonton. The bus failed to stop at the east end of Connaught Drive and came to rest in the south ditch of Highway 16.

The 50-passenger bus had 35 passengers on board at the time. Uninjured passengers waited at the firehall for a relief bus, which picked them up at about 11 a.m.

Greyhound spokeswoman Lanesha Gipson said the cause of the accident had not yet been determined. The company is working with the RCMP and conducting their own investigation.
