Police have been called in to investigate after hikers found what appear to be human remains in an area near the Spray Lakes Reservoir.
According to a release from RCMP, at roughly 11:30 p.m. on Thursday, officers received a call from hikers who had located the remains.
When police arrived on scene, they found what appears to be a human jawbone and other bone fragments.
RCMP said the remains will be removed from the scene shortly, and note the Medical Examiner will look over the body sometime early next week.
The release explained it’s too early to determine if the death is criminal in nature and RCMP will release more information once results from the Medical Examiner have been received.
