An American fugitive spotted this week in Oakville has been captured, Toronto Police say.
Anthony Joseph Maiorano, 32, was convicted of aggravated assault in 2007 and had been serving a 20-year sentence at a Georgia correctional facility when he was released on a day pass in April.
He never returned to the facility.
On Tuesday, he was spotted by Halton police travelling in a car in Oakville, and fled on foot when indentified.
In a release issued Thursday afternoon, Toronto police confirmed that Maiorano had been arrested without incident in The Queensway and Park Lawn Road area.
He is scheduled to appear in court Friday in regards to an extradition warrant.
