Male Motorcycle rider dies after collision with streetcar

A male motorcyclist has died in hospital following a collision with a TTC streetcar in Toronto’s east-end Friday morning.

Toronto Paramedics said they were called to the scene, at Queen Street East and Hiltz Avenue at 6:10 a.m., for a report of a collision involving a motorcycle. Firefighters performed CPR on the man before he was taken to hospital, paramedics said.

A TTC streetcar was stopped near the scene of the crash with damage to its front left side. Police said the streetcar was travelling west on Queen Street and the motorcyclist, believed to be in his 20s, was travelling eastbound on Queen when the crash occurred.

Const. Hugh Smith said the motorcyclist was turning left from the eastbound lane of Queen Street East when he lost control of his bike and collided with the streetcar.

The 501, 502 and 503 Queen streetcars are all diverting via Coxwell, Gerrard and Parliament due to the collision.
