Man convicted of killing wife off Island found dead in Saskatoon Cell

A man who was convicted of murdering his wife has died in a Saskatchewan psychiatric facility.

The Regional Psychiatric Centre in Saskatoon issued a statement Saturday saying Traigo Andretti was found unresponsive in his cell and could not be revived.

Traigo Andretti was convicted of first degree murder in 2014 for the death of his wife Jennifer McPherson.

He was subsequently charged with second degree murder in the 2006 slaying of Myrna Letandre in Manitoba. Her dismembered remains were found in a Lorne Avenue rooming house in 2013, seven years after she was reported missing by her sister. He later plead guilty.

Both murder charges carried automatic life sentences.

The Regional Psychiatric Centre says Correctional Service Canada will review the circumstances behind his death.
