Parks Canada searchers were finally able access a mountainous avalanche site Monday where they believe Sgt. Mark Anthony Salesse was buried by snow last Thursday, but the recovery effort continues.
Parks Canada staff have searched the area by helicopter, but the avalanche risk has been too high to allow ground rescuers to enter the area.
Brian Webster, a visitor safety specialist with Parks Canada, says rescuers consider it highly unlikely Salesse could have survived after the first day.
