The Mounties are seeking a peace bond for a 22-year-old former kickboxing champion from Montreal, citing a section of the law designed to combat terrorism.
Merouane Ghalmi will appear before a court tomorrow – not to be accused of any crime but possibly to have conditions placed on his activities because the Mounties fear he may be thinking about committing a terrorist act.
The Journal de Montreal says the Crown wants to impose a peace bond on Ghalmi, which would be a first in Quebec.
Ghalmi fought his last extreme fighting match in 2012.
