Gunman Michael Zehaf-Bibeau, who was shot dead in the Centre Block of Parliament Hill Oct. 22 after killing a soldier, toured the building as an ordinary member of the public more than two weeks before his rampage, the Citizen has learned.
Zehaf-Bibeau was captured on security video taking the tour, which included the Hall of Honour — the very place where he was killed.
A large knife was found next to his body, suggesting to investigators that he went to the Hill with an intent to behead someone.
Zehaf-Bibeau, 32, shot Cpl. Nathan Cirillo on the morning of Oct. 22 as the reservist from Hamilton, Ont., performed sentry duty at the Memorial. Zehaf-Bibeau then rushed into Centre Block, where he engaged in a gunfight with RCMP and Parliament Hill security.
