The Canada Science and Technology museum is closed indefinitely due to mould.
The museum says “unacceptable levels of airborne mould” were detected in the south wall of the museum during regular maintenance. The museum had closed earlier this month for annual maintenance.
Spokesperson Olivier Bouffard says an assessment is underway.
“We are working with our contractors to see how we can remedy the situation. At this time we don’t know what kind of repair work will be needed or how long it will take to perform.”
People inside were evacuated Thursday afternoon. This did not affect visitors as the museum was in the middle of an annual week-long closure for maintenance.
Bouffard says the health and safety of visitors and employees is as absolute priority.
